Some things I observed during the playtests were:
- Players liked the map and seeing different locations available/unavailable based on the character you were
- Players want to know that their choices matter (unsure if one choice offered info and the other choice is useless, and no opportunity to go back)
- Players described feeling like they had enough agency
- Liked color coding for key characters
- The loop is fairly short, choices should be very valuable so they matter
- Desire to investigate and explore after first death
Based on these observations, I have a ideas on where to go from here. I want to sketch out the full story map for my game so that I understand what information is needed for the player to solve the mystery. Once I know the key pieces of the story that need to be put together, I can better create the choices for the player that guide them towards these answers. Based on my playtests, I plan to make each choice lead to specific clues, so playing the loop again will allow you to learn new information despite having the same setting. This should help me stay within a small scope but still make the game feel fun without accidentally trapping you in an endless loop with no clear hints on how to escape.
