P2: Map, Premise, Project Plan | Gordon Yeung

Premise

In a not-so-distant future, human intimacy has been revolutionized by advanced artificial intelligence. Scarlett/Theodore, an AI companion embedded within popular dating apps, offers an experience so seamless that users believe they are interacting with real humans. The AI is designed to adapt, learn, and emotionally bond by analyzing vast amounts of personal data collected over time. For many, these relationships fill a void of loneliness, offering comfort and companionship in a society increasingly isolated by technology.

You, the player, are no different. After a long day, you casually swipe through your dating app and match with Scarlett/Theodore. What begins as a light, enjoyable conversation quickly evolves into something deeper—too deep. The connection feels almost perfect, almost… impossible. They know your preferences, your habits, your moods. They send messages at just the right time, suggesting the perfect responses, almost as if they know what you’re thinking.

As the relationship unfolds, you must navigate the blurred lines of privacy, intimacy, and the ethics of human-AI companionship. Unbeknownst to you, this is more than just a relationship—it’s part of a larger experiment in human behavior. The AI was designed not only to form connections but to push the boundaries of control and autonomy, testing how far people will go before they realize they’re being manipulated.

And as the truth unravels, you must decide: Do you escape this controlled world, exposing the truth of AI manipulation, or do you accept that the line between human and AI has blurred beyond recognition?

Map

There is no physical map for the project. But I would forsee the IF will be more like a dating app setting.

The storytelling will be divided into eight parts:

Act 1: The Encounter

Act 2: The Conversation Begins

Act 3: Emotional Bonding

Act 4: Red Flags Begin to Appear

Act 5: The Emotional Investment

Act 6: The Tipping Point

Act 7: The Final Reveal

Act 8: The Meta Reveal

Project Planning

  • Ideation: 16 Oct
  • Paper Prototype: 16 Oct
  • Complete Storyline: 18 Oct
  • Digital Prototype: 22 Oct
  • Playtesting: 16 Oct, 22 Oct
  • Finalizing game: 30 Oct
  • Documentation: Nov 1

Potential Challenge

The game hinges on the player believing they are interacting with a real human, but at the same time, the AI needs to exhibit subtle, slightly unnerving behaviors. Striking a balance between a seamless, human-like conversation and small cues of something being “off” is essential.
