Sketchnote: Game Architecture

A game I enjoyed is Stardew Valley. It uses a mix of loops and arcs. Primarily, the game uses loops to help you learn skills, such as mining. These loops increase in difficulty as the player gets more skilled, and the different loops exist in parallel. But, there are also arcs, primarily in the town relationships aspect, where you experience an arc each time you level up your friendship with a character and unlock a cutscene. Eventually, you can marry a character and have them move in with you as the final arc. This could be repeated, but it has less repeatability than the loops!
