Mystery-Thriller adventure

  • Concept: Players take on the role of a detective with supernatural abilities to see past events, tasked with solving a series of interconnected crimes in a gritty, noir-inspired city.
  • Mechanics: Use of supernatural abilities to gather clues and solve puzzles, decision-making that affects the outcome of the story, and interaction with complex characters.
  • Visual and Style: Dark, moody tones with a contrast of shadows and light, capturing the essence of film noir.
  • Narrative Approach: Emergent Narratives—The story develops through the players’ actions and decisions. Each choice can lead to new developments and endings, creating a unique narrative experience shaped by interactions within the game world.
  • Kinds of Fun: Challenge (solving mysteries and making strategic choices), Narrative (engaging with a compelling story), and Sensation (experiencing the intense atmosphere and tension of a thriller).

 

Eco-Adventure games

  • Concept: Players explore an intricately designed world that’s vibrant and teeming with life, solving environmental puzzles and restoring habitats to bring species back from the brink of extinction.
  • Mechanics: Gameplay includes puzzle-solving using natural elements (like weather patterns or plant growth), strategic resource management, and interaction with various wildlife.
  • Visual and Style: Rich, colorful environments; a mix of realistic and fantastical designs for flora and fauna.
  • Narrative Approach: Evocative Spaces—The game’s environments themselves tell a story, with each restored habitat revealing more about the world’s history and the impact of players’ actions.
  • Kinds of Fun: Discovery (exploring and learning about new habitats and species), Fellowship (collaborating with others in ecosystem restoration), and Expression (creating and influencing the game environment).

 

Steampunk City Builder

  • Concept: Set in an alternate Victorian era where steam power has evolved in extraordinary ways, players build and manage their steampunk city, balancing technological advancements with societal needs and moral choices.
  • Mechanics: Involves complex city and resource management systems, with a focus on inventing new steampunk technologies and expanding the city while managing pollution and population happiness.
  • Visual and Style: Dark, industrial aesthetic mixed with ornate Victorian architectures; lots of gears, steam, and bronze elements.
  • Narrative Approach: Embedded Narratives—The storyline is built into the world and its objects. As players expand and innovate within their city, they unlock historical tales of the city, inventions that failed or succeeded, and the personal stories of its citizens.
  • Kinds of Fun: Challenge (dealing with resource management and city planning), Expression (customizing and designing the city), and Sensation
