Sketchnote: Loops and Arcs

A game that I enjoy is What Remains of Edith Finch because of its micro parallel arc format. There are several different stories and mysteries that are present in the game and you discover them little by little as you move through your environment and learn how/what interactions are possible in the house you are exploring. The presence of music and a voiceover also add a lot to the core gameplay. The stories in the game are especially fun because they are not revealed just by cut scenes but you actually act as the character of the story you are reading/remembering — there is a story arc being revealed at the same time as you are completing challenges/exploring/learning new skills. Every story can be thought of almost as a new level because your goal as Edith Finch is to keep exploring the house until you have filled in every person on your family tree in the notebook that you are carrying with you.
