Directions for our game:
Evoking emotions of suspense, confusion, and excitement.
- The players are a group of friends that are attending a fancy island wedding to steal the priceless ring. They have an entire plan laid out, but once they reach the island, they find out that someone else has already stolen the ring they were after. The game has an embedded narratives approach where all the clues and evidence is scattered across the island, and players interact with their environment to gather clues to determine who stole the ring so they can steal it back. I imagine there will be many embedded stories and sub-plots to guide players down the right path and distract them from the true story.
Types of fun: Challenge, Discovery, Fellowship
- The players are a group of friends that are attending a fancy island wedding to steal the priceless ring. The game has an enacting stories narrative approach where the group of players are given materials and some guidance for how they must commit the heist and steal the priceless ring. These include blueprints, lock picking tutorials, safe cracking tips, information about evading security cameras, etc… The narrative is mostly pre-defined with what needs to occur for the heist to be successful, but the fun comes from the challenge of putting all the puzzle pieces and roles together to successfully steal the ring.
Types of fun: Challenge, Fellowship
- The players have all been invited to this fancy island wedding, each with their own backstory for how they know the individuals getting married. However, the night before the wedding, the priceless ring has been stolen, creating chaos around the entire island! Cards are passed around to each of the players explaining whether they were involved with the heist, their possible motivations for stealing the ring, and other relevant information. There can be multiple sets of cards to have different mysteries each round. The goal of the game is to uncover information and clues that has been embedded around the island and role-play with each other to identify which player stole the ring. This also has an embedded narrative approach, but instead of working together, players fully immerse themselves into their characters to prove their innocence.
