3 Narrative Directions:

  • Guess Who Killed Mr. Banks – The player plays as the detective trying to figure out who killed Mr. Banks, a wealthy billionaire. Everyone from the cleaning staff, to the billionaire’s own wife had a motive and opportunity to commit the murder, but who actually did it? The player must use their detective skills to uncover clues that are hidden within this large estate along the way that may lead to the murder weapon and ultimately uncover who killed the billionaire.
  • Kidnap the Bride – Inspired by the recent movie ‘Abigail’, players must concoct a plan to kidnap the finance of a dangerous man. Depending on the number of players, a range of characters are available to play, all with different abilities. Based on the selected players, they must use the abilities allotted to them to kidnap the bride. However, the ring-bearing wife-to-be may have a secret or two herself.
  • Art Heist at the Gallery – In this detective game, players find themselves on the scene of the aftermath of a daring art heist. Players, serving as the detective, must traverse around the museum navigating different gallery’s and corridors to find cryptic symbols and hidden compartments. Knowing the area is lurking with rival artists and jealous collectors, players must put the pieces together to solve who took the valuable painting – and perhaps a larger conspiracy all together.

Stylistic Directions:

  • I see all three of these narrative directions taking place in a completely virtual environment. This makes it easy to really create the feel of the different environment and allow players to feel truly immersed. Due to technical limitations, this would most likely be a 2-D map unless we use a different medium such as minecraft
  • One of my favorite genres of movies are mysteries/whodunits where the audience can play along with the characters to see who is the culprit, so naturally a game where your responsibility is to figure out who did it is most appealing to me.
