Our team wants to create a game that combines Twister and Charades. Some questions we want our prototypes to answer are
- Is it feasible to act when hand or foot has to be in a specific position?
Twister is already quite a physically challenging game, so having to act on top of that may be difficult. This question is important to answer because a game that is too challenging is not fun. For this prototype, we will try acting out a few words while playing a game of Twister. From this prototype we may decide how best to relax the rules from each game to provide the optimal play experience. I expect that this game will be quite challenging if we just use the rules of Twister and Charades as is, so some mod is needed.
- What kind of mechanics should be incorporated for competition?
An important part of our game to create fellowship is competition between players. Thus we need to decide the best mechanics to drive this competition. For example, do each team get separate words or should words be shared. To prototype this, we can try out a few different sets of rules and see which one is the most engaging. We will also pay attention to how the two teams interact with each other. I expect the competition aspect to be a big part of the fun.
- What kind of physical game props will improve the play experience?
This question is important because this is a physical challenge game and the game props will decide the boundaries of the game. For example, we can test if the standard Twister mat is sufficient for game, or if there is a better configuration of circles. I expect that we will have to come up with some props of our own to make the game better.
