Hi there! My name’s Brendan Reeves (he/him).
It’s hard to pick, but Monument Valley comes to mind as my favorite ever gaming experience. It’s an indie puzzle game inspired by the art of MC Escher, in which you solve an Escher-esque maze by moving objects in impossible and surprising ways to allow the character to reach a desired platform. The ingenuity, art, and wonder of this game was an absolute revelation when I was younger, and awakened an inner-fascination with logic, philosophy, and aesthetics that I continue to cherish.
I recently enjoyed playing Elden Ring with my brother, Max. We enjoyed both the difficulty and the stunning art of the game, and the obvious attention to detail the devs and storytellers put into the project. Open world does help foster a sense of freedom in gaming that’s hard to achieve any other way.
