Hello! My name is Ellie (they/them). I’ve been playing video games for most of my life, so I’m very excited to get under the hood and start studying how they’re designed. Recently, I really enjoyed Inscryption by Daniel Mullins, which is a hard game to describe because of the many things it is, but for the purposes of introduction I think it suffices to say that it’s a rogue-like card game with a creepy setting and aesthetic. It quickly expands beyond that, though. Playing Inscryption feels like one of those dreams where you wake up over and over again, and when you wake up into reality you’re not quite sure you’ve stopped dreaming (and then you wake up one more time).
My favorite game of all time is a much harder question, but I think I’d have to say Undertale, a game with the tagline “The RPG game where you don’t have to destroy anyone.” I found it at a pretty rough time in my life and it brought me a lot of comfort. I think its characters are really well written with a story that’s easy to get lost in. Highly recommend both Undertale and the sequel, Deltarune!
