Critical Play: Puzzles-Factory Balls Tara Jones

For this critical play, I played the game Factory Balls. This game consists of multiple patterned balls which you need to use certain paint/design buckets to correctly recreate the desired ball. I played this game on IOS.

Factory Balls on the App Store

This game is a very simple puzzle game, where the entirety of the gameplay is the puzzle itself. When designing the ball, there might be a pattern which does not come naturally, and you have to use other objects such as nets and belts before you dip the ball to make the correct design.

The game’s mechanic creates a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as players progress through increasingly complex levels. Each successful ball completion provides a rewarding outcome, motivating players to tackle the future puzzles. Moreover, the mechanics in factory balls promotes critical thinking and spatial reasoning, as players must strategize and plan their steps to achieve the desired outcome.

The intuitive controls make Factory Balls accessible to players of all ages and skill levels. The combination of the unique transformation mechanic and the gradual increase in difficulty ensures a consistently engaging experience that keeps players hooked and entertained.

Overall, what a fun game!!

On another note, I just wanted to say I LOVED MYST as a kid! One of my fave games ever. My dad and I would play it on our desktop PC together.
