Concept and Mood – Project 1

Our team had discussed a mystery game that takes place on a train.

The main premise I came up with for the game was a murder mystery (murder on the orient express) where the player needed to go through the cars, talk to the passengers, and figure out what happened. We discussed having a paranormal element, and I came up with the idea of having each character be a scientist, and the train was on the way to a conference. Each character would either be dead or alive, and be given a field of science, based on which they could have flavorful interactions with each other.

I came up with several characters to potentially use:

Robert M. Flannigan (Alive)

Description: Natural Gas Researcher payed off by oil barons

Nancy Hopster (Alive)

Description: Dinosaur Paleontologist

Enemies: Robert M. Flannigan (natural gas desecrates the graves of her ancestors)

Friends: Sadie and Katie Haller (birds are her progeny)

Shira Kundha (Alive)

Description: Mycologist Extraordinaire

Enemies: No one

Friends: No one

Steffan Olavsson (Alive)

Description: Gastronomer

Enemies: He’s kinda annoyed by shira

Friends: Eileen capstone saved his wife

Eileen Capstone (Alive)

Reice Pijzse (Alive)

Description: Conductor

Cruciferous Springflower (Alive)

Alaina Cordova (Dead)

Stephen Falconer (Dead)

Description: Computer Scientist

TalkCPU (Dead)

Description: Stephen Falconer’s AI (how did it become a ghost??)

Friends: Stephen

Enemies: No one (or everyone??? Who knows)

Katie Haller (Dead)

Description: Ornithologist

Friends: Nancy

Enemies: Sadie (Sadie’s snake ate Katie’s parakeet)

Sadie Haller (Dead)

Here is my moodboard, I wanted the game to be less dark and creepy and colorful and humorous instead.
