Dria – Game Architecture

A game I enjoy is Super Smash Bros. This game contains a large amount of interaction loops. Each player has to choose a character for each game and every character has different powers. Consequently, the player has to learn and update their mental model as they figure out what powers they have from their controller. These loops occur at different frequencies, as a player’s attack on another player happens more frequently than the player being completely thrown off the game stage. The game reacts based on the amount of damage inflicted on the player and when they reach a certain amount the game pushes them out. This interaction loop repeats until there is only one player left standing.
