Short Exercise: What do Prototypes Prototype?

Q1: What is the effect of skill-based drinking mini-games on player engagement/enjoyment?

Prototype: We can have playtesters complete a short round with and without the minigames (just slapping the deck) and collect feedback about which was more enjoyable!

Prediction: Adding the mini-games will increase enjoyment, as it incorporates other sensation-based pleasure games/ complexifies the game, making it less monotonous!

Q2: How long does this game take to have a winner and how does this length affect player engagement/enjoyment?

Prototype: We can play a series of games with varying amounts of starting cards, and varying complexity of mini-game and see how this affects the length of the game, keeping it within an optimal length range to maintain user attention and enjoyment of the game!

Prediction: Starting with 30 cards per user, and including mini-games with only one cup to flip, pong, rage or quarter should produce the optimal game length to maintain interest.

Q3: How accessible/enjoyable is this game to players of different skill levels or abilities?

Prototype: We can prototype with users of various experience levels to these common drinking games and gauge accessibility and enjoyment.

Prediction: Those with less experience may feel more frustration at this game. If this is the case, we may want to include mini-games that are more luck-based.
