Visual Design of Games

One game that I think is beautiful is The Last of Us Part II. Although the developers spend a lot of time and energy on the stunning graphics to immerse the players into the world, they also utilized design principles to make the gameplay easier, For instance, many of the weapons and tools are grouped so that players can quickly access the instrument they need during encounters. As shown here, long and short ranged weapons are grouped on the left and right side, respectively, of the selection menu using a single button on the d-pad. Meanwhile, more miscellaneous tools are on the upper and lower columns. Lastly, med kits are the first item of the upper column so that players can quickly access them and heal during intense interactions. This allows for players to have a more seamless experience while playing the video game.
