Checkpoint 1: Ulo’s Individual Concept Doc

Hi everyone! Just dropping by to share my individual concept doc for project 2!

Here is my mood board for Secrets of Stanford:

Three directions that I’m exploring for the game are:

1) Unlocking the truth about the Stanford story (modern mystery)

  • Current students (in modern time) being prompted by the ghost of Jane Stanford to uncover what really happened to her/ to share her story
  • Types of fun: Sensation, narrative, challenge, fellowship

2) Unlocking the truth 2.0 leading to a better Stanford

  • Similar to the first example, but I see this version having a different ending where the students discovering the true story will change Stanford to become better and the assailants will be held accountable -> renaming of Stanford locations
  • Types of fun: Sensation, narrative, challenge, fellowship

3) More of an escape room type feel

  • Players instead use a board game and learn the story of Stanford
  • I can see this in two ways: one being where people have roles and can introduce elements like in Mafia of player death and the other being one where players don’t have roles and are working together to uncover the story as they go
  • Types of fun: Sensation, narrative, challenge, fellowship
