MDA: Papa’s Freezeria

As a student who can’t do work without listening to music or paint my nails without Facetiming my friends, Papa’s Freezeria keeps me engaged in a manner no other game can. From the never-ending stream of customers to managing four different blended sundaes at once, Papa’s Freezeria is a multitasker’s dream.

The mechanics of the game include an order-taking station, an ice-cream building station, an ice-cream blending station, and a topping station. At each stop, there is a game component to ensure the user builds the “best” sundae. This includes an optimal amount for each feature that you can reach by stopping a button on time or placing the toppings in the right areas.

The dynamics come into play when multiple customers pile up and each of their orders are left blending. Each sundae is judged based on how close it is to the original order and how long it takes to deliver. Balancing all these factors, the four stations, and allotting varying time for each sundae to blend to the optimal amount all work together to create challenge in the game.

These components are packaged in the form of a food service experience which make the experience light-hearted and nostalgic. The longer I play, the more invested I become in my reviews and the number of customers I am able to please. Getting into a rhythm on Papa’s Freezeria can only be compared to the feelings of runner’s high. The best part is that if I ever tire of making ice cream, I have the option of switching to Papa’s Pizzeria, Wingeria, Pancakeria, Cupcakeria, Bakeria, or Burgeria!
