Introduction – Ian Ng

Hi everyone! I’m Ian (he/him), and I’m a senior/final year coterm studying CS (AI track, surprise surprise.)

I have a bunch of favorite games, a few of which are:

  • Rhythm Doctor: an indie rhythm game where you play as a doctor in a severely understaffed hospital administering a rhythm-based heart treatment. I liked it a lot just because of how heartfelt the story is, and how the gameplay is always enjoyable and challenging, without ever being frustratingly difficult. Also, the art and music is all made in-studio, and has a very personal feel to it.
  • Hollow Knight: my first (and only, until Silksong comes out) metroidvania. I loved the art, loved the complexity of movement and combat, and loved the replayability and the sheer amount of content.
  • Minecraft: The amount of nostalgia it invokes, as well as the fact that it feels fresh after 10 years and I can still play it with friends for hundreds of hours without it feeling old.

A recent game I enjoyed is Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion: a very short game during which you play as a turnip attempting to commit tax evasion by solving puzzles. It’s just really cute and the humor resonates with me a lot.
