Possible directions:
Direction 1 – Fighting Frozen Food Bosses
Each level is a micro-arena ending in a surreal frozen food-themed boss (like frozen pizza, broccoli, chicken legs, or ice-pops). This would create kinds of fun such as:
- Challenge: Pattern-based boss fights
- Discovery: Explore the pyschodelic world inside your freezer
- Fantasy: Becoming a freezer knight on a dairy quest
- Fellowship: Co-op boss fights
This would create evocative spaces as each boss arena reflects familiar freezer “zones” found in people’s fridges.
Direction 2 – Slippery Ice Platforms
A 2D platformer where slippery surfaces, melting platforms, and/or freaky freezer creatures make traversal chaotic. This could the following create the fun of challenge, as timing one’s jumps or walks is harder than it looks, i.e. getting stuck to a melting cheese block or slipping on top of ice. It could also make for a lot of cool progression: as the player approaches the ice cream, the environment gets harder to play.
Direction 3 — Rhythm-Based Tripping Quest
A rhythm game where movement and action are synced to trippy, psychodelic music. You have to move through icy dance floors, dodge beat-timed obstacles, and stay in the groove. This could create several kinds of fun, such as sensation through music-reactive visuals and controls and challenge as you have to time your actions to increasingly weird tracks. The music could also represent different parts of a psychedelic trip like the come up and come down, as well as paranoia or euphoria.
