Violation of norms can look like insufficient or tense communication, rough work dynamic, or lack of progress owing to interpersonal conflicts. Enforcement of norms relies on common trust in other team members’ abilities to initiate a conversation and verbally work through issues with one another. Rather than building a punitive culture by establishing explicit consequences, we commonly buy into a culture of trust and defer to dialogic remediation.
