Directions for the Game:

Together we agreed that the game would revolve around a group of students trying to free themselves from Stanford’s neighborhood housing system in order to obtain their dream housing, so my three ideas will be sub-ideas of that larger plan.

  1. We could follow a very straightforward plot of the students needing to solve one puzzle per neighborhood. After freeing themselves from each neighborhood by solving a puzzle (puzzles will be found in the room that the game takes place in), the players will win their dream housing/a key to MTL’s house.
  2. We could follow a more detailed plot line over the course of the game. We could throw in story elements after each puzzle is solved, such as the housing administrators attempting to interfere by separating the players into two different rooms (the bathroom and the bedroom, theoretically) or the players needing to identify the location of a listening device (planted by the evil housing administrators) in the room.
  3. We could take a similar course of action to plan number 2, but more absurd and also incorporating more planted actors. We could have one of our team members portray a character that has been trapped inside the closet/bathroom by the housing administrators, or we could have a team member communicate by phone or walkie-talkie, acting as though they are a sort of spymaster/eyes in the sky. I think this would be very entertaining for players, but could also jump the shark a bit.
