One game I love specifically for the narrative architecture is Hollow Knight. You area masked figure navigating the terrain of a destroyed kingdom. As you go along you fight other bugs bug begin to piece together that they were previous, townspeople and servants of the kingdom that have now been infected. You also learn about your role in the kingdom as you figure how you want to save it. I was reminded of this game during the reading during the Embedded Narrative section. The area called Forgotten Crossroads is in a lot of ways your homebase. It is there where you begin your journey. You wander far and do not return until much later in the game after the infection spreads. At this point the bugs have changed becoming much more aggressive and damaging. The place is oozing with slime and toxic sludge. It is an extremely emotionally powerful part of the game.
