Doby – Sketchnote: Game Architecture

Comments

My all-time favorite game is called Overcooked and I will be saying this quite a few times. Its architecture parallels to games like Super Mario Brothers where the levels govern the architecture, there are interaction loops throughout, and new resources make levels novel. However, I found the levels in Overcooked more re-playable due to the fixed time restraint on each level. Additionally, the possibilities to make different dishes in different terrain keeps me very intrigued. I love the parallel arcs between the gameplay and the music because the music actually becomes important in determining the success of the players.  I’m still surprised how they were able to make simple controls so versatile. You don’t have to put too much brain power in the controls rather you channel it into making sure you work together efficiently.
