Sketchnote – Game Architecture

Comments: A game I love is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which carries out game loops primarily by presenting the player with repeating puzzles with increasing complexity as the game progresses. New elements are added in as the player adds to their inventory of tools which adds another loop forcing players to recognize the unique capabilities of each tool as new obstacles are presented in the gamespace. In terms of arc, the game is broken up largely by the current main objectives which range from tasks as small as get a stick and wrestle a goat to as grandiose as save the Goron village and defeat the evil wizard Ganondorf. There are even larger scale arcs that span multiple games lore-wise in the form of references to the previous game, Ocarina of Time.
