Introduce Yourself – Amanda Huynh

Hello! My name is Amanda and I use she/her pronouns. I am a junior studying Computer Science, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

My favorite game of all time is Big Two, a classic card game played in groups of 2 or more. Each card has a ‘rank’, where 2 is the highest ranking card and Ace (A) is the lowest ranking card (may vary depending on which variant of the game you are most familiar with). The goal of the game is to get rid of all your cards as quickly as possible using different poker hand combinations. I love strategy games with a touch of luck and Big Two is exactly that. The card game has various card combinations you can play; computing the chances another player has a specific card or the probability another player can play a certain set of hands is both exciting and nerve-racking!

A game I recently enjoyed playing is Overcooked, a team-collaboration cooking game. I like this game because of the different foods you can prepare and serve in each new challenge. You have to race against the clock and divide tasks fairly amongst friends to avoid having too much of one ingredient, no more clean dishes, or accidentally hitting your friend’s character with a lettuce head. The graphics and overall team dynamics in the game make this a must play!
