For our team game (The Tragedy of the Commons), we included values regarding resource management and interactions with the environment (other players after death). These values affected our design choices in that we wanted to make sure that there was correct balance between when players could gather and use resources, and have enough so that with the right allocation, they would be able to survive ‘catastrophes’ that would occur at the end of every three rounds. Each ‘arc’ that would occur in our game is made up of three ‘loops’, which signify each round of the game; the arc would occur when the catastrophe card and get feedback on the amount of food or people cards (resources) they would lose as a result. We also included feedback after every round, in which food would be deducted from each player’s stock depending on the amount of people they had at the end of that round as well.
