Short Exercise: Prototyping

Questions I want to answer:

Q1. Is this a fun game?

I am creating games so that players have a good time together. So, its important to test this out.

How? Play test using a basic version of the game – here I am not testing whether the aesthetics are finely polished, but just seeing if the dynamics arising from the mechanics is fun.

Q2. Will players find creating the game cards monotonous?

Since the game is played with custom game cards which have to be created at the beginning of every game, its important to test it out if players would be willing to do it.

How? Ask multiple people to play it and see how they react, are they willing or not willing.

Q3. Is the name swapping unnecessarily complicated?

Since one of the proposed mechanics is to swap names with other players, its important to see how this mechanic plays out and if players have fun instead of feeling that its a toll on their brains.

How? Play test with and without this mechanic. Feel the difference.

Q4. The duration of the game?

Since the game is meant to icebreak and foster friendships or bonding, its important to see that it does not become boring after some time.

How? Play test and see how players feel after every 5 minute window.
