Short Exercise: MDA & 8 Kinds of Fun

Name of the Game: Telestrations after Dark

The freedom to think out of the box, and the resulting laughter due to a player’s imagination leads to fun times. The kinds of fun being felt are fellowship, sensation and challenge.

The allowance of being able to think about adult jokes when guessing a person’s drawing leads to desirable and funny creativity. Since the drawing is passed around the entire group of players, the effect of a misunderstanding only gets amplified in the process. The reason this amplification is funny is because at every step it seems like a logical distortion, however, the distortions combined lead to something thats really funny.

The feeling of drawing on a good surface with a marker leads to a good sensation. The childhood days of drawing are reminded, and the experience of using a marker on a smooth and hard surface is much better than using a pencil on a paper.

The suggestions listed in the cards can be really wild. Thus, the resulting inability to draw a particular concept leads to challenge – a challenge that is fun to deal with because there is no obligation to do really well, as the players know that there inability would lead to even more laughter at the end. Thus, this challenge of drawing is on a lighter note with no undesirable consequences in case one fails.
