P2: Tiny Playable Prototype

I brought in a Twine game with a couple scenes written. These scenes introduced the main setup I’m planning to use, as well as the writing style and tone. Here are my main takeaways:

  • Likes
    • Text wasn’t too dense (cut up / poetic)
    • Customization / personalization (user name, world name, naming in general)
    • Use of cycling links (but make this more clear)
    • Bigger picture theme / goal of meaning-making
    • AI imagery
  • Dislikes
    • Not for everyone tonally or narratively
    • Could see point of definitions, but could be reduced / reworked / taken out
    • AI imagery (once I asked specifically about this in relation to the game’s purpose — not just as a visual element — all three playtesters agreed that I could think about removing it because it could take away from one of the game’s pillars, but that it’s up to me)

Overall, these were really helpful directions for me to think about. I’m glad that the main setup / approach to user choice was coherent to people, since the rest of the game is based around it.
