MDA: Cornhole

Cornhole is a multilateral competition game that involves two teams aiming bean bags at two slanted boards and trying to get the bags to land in a hole in the boards. Typically, the game is played with four players, one on each team, two boards, and eight bean bags. The boards are set a distance apart and one player from each team stands on either side of each board. Turns are taken where players at one specific board take turns throwing a bag at the other board. Each team gets one point for landing on the board, and three for getting a bag in the hole in the board.

The runtime dynamic of this game is often lighthearted and team-driven. Because the game is mainly dependent on the physical abilities of the players in aiming and throwing, choosing balanced teams is important in establishing positive dynamics. Players on the same team are also physically separated, meaning that players have the opportunity to interact directly with one of their opponents. This often intensifies the competitive element of the game.

Together, the mechanics and dynamics of cornhole combine to create physical challenge and team fellowship. Despite being fundamental to the gameplay, depending on the abilities and experience of the players, physical challenge can be a varying part of the game. When players are less experienced, they are often less inclined to be focused on improving or honing in on their ability to throw the bean bags. They are more focused on their fellowship with their teammate. In contrast, more experienced players are more focused on their physical skills, and sometimes their fun is derived less from the fellowship they feel with their teammate.
