You are (text-colour:red)[Kevin Park-Garcia], a corporate mercenary living in San Francisco, the largest city in the (text-colour:red)[Californian Republic]. You've worked as a corporate mercenary for many different companies, including (text-colour:red)[Tatsuhiro Industries], which was your last and longest-lasting employer.
[[Next|SituationOfCharacter2]]You are back in your house and you are watching TV.
You flip through the different channels.
[[<|Channel 1]] [[>|Channel 2]]To your left and right, you see several people with their hands tied tightly behind their backs. You see that they're wearing jackets with the Circuitbreakers insignia. They are all sitting on the cold, hard ground, their faces etched with fear and confusion. Your heart races as you wonder what fate awaits you and the others in this grim, unfamiliar place.
[[Next|Guards walk away]]You manage to successfully escape, but now you are public enemy number one with the (text-colour:red)[Singularity Vanguard].
You're talking with the people that you escaped with and there is apparently a power struggle within the (text-colour:red)[CircuitBreakers]: some want to take matters into their own hands by raiding the headquarters of the government building south of the city and performing a show of force against the government there. Others believe that this is highly risky and will not accomplish anything useful. They believe that it would be better to use less aggressive means to achieve their goals as members of the (text-colour:red)[Deccelerationist] party, such as espionage and information warfare.
There is an even split between the people that you escaped with and their positions here.
Both groups want you to use your intel and your skills to help them. You are asked to pick a side.
[[Raid the government building]]
[[Help with espionage|Help the peaceful people]]You agree to help raid the government building, so you go to the government building with said crew. You get on one of their vehicles. Along the ride to the government building, you get to know your comrades more.
You then arrive to the government building.
Security is tight so you and your comrades decide to sneak past the guards.
[[Next|Fail 3]]One of the (text-colour:red)[CircuitBreakers], a hacker, manages to hack into the building and make it so that security systems now signal that everything is okay. You are now able to go to the top floor where you have all of the different control rooms.
You go to the top floor, and you start start to walk towards a door. The panel on the door states that only level 1 security clearance is available.
You successfully managed to swipe the key card into the door. You finally managed to enter the room.
You are now able to enter the room.
[[Next|Climax]]You are shocked by what you see. You see (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[James Kessler]] and (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]] in the room. They are protected by guards in the room. Your guys apprehend the guards and make them immobile.
You start to pull the gun on both (text-colour:red)[James] and (text-colour:red)[Erica] and start to interrogate what is going on.
(text-colour:red)[James] and (text-colour:red)[Erica] explain that they, and multiple high-level officials from the (text-colour:red)[Accelerationist] and (text-colour:red)[Deccelerationist] parties have been controlling (text-colour:red)[DelSys]. Every decision that (text-colour:red)[DelSys] has been making has always needed to be approved by (text-colour:red)[James] and (text-colour:red)[Erica] without knowledge of the rest of the (text-colour:red)[Californian congress].
[[Next|Resolution]]You leak this to the press. The people start finding out what has been going on in the shadow government.
Mass protests against both parties start to emerge. Chaos has ensued. Both political parties have started to crumble underneath.
The future is uncertain and people feel betrayed. What happens now? Revolution? Or Reform? You decide to join the less radical group.
You are asked to divulge in information that will help them win the next presidential debate. In order for you to do this, you need to sneak back into (text-colour:red)[TIHQ] because they have been tipped off about something big that will turn the electorate in favor of them. All they know is that there is a scandal brewing between the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]] and (text-colour:red)[Tatsuhiro], but they're not sure what it is. Although this would help them, (text-colour:red)[Deccelerationist] leadership has expressed opposition towards this plan, citing "the sanctity of our election process."
You decide to sneak back into (text-colour:red)[TIHQ] to retrieve what it is that they're talking about.
<!-- Enter some stuff here where you are on the way from the car to the government building. You talk to the people and you get to know them. Lots of sympathy points for the characters that is built here. Also, point out the contradiction as to why we have so many politicians and bosses if their work is already automated by AI. Why is it that everyone else gets laid off except them? Why doesn't DelSys do that?-->
You go to (text-colour:red)[TIHQ] with said crew. You get on one of their vehicles. Along the ride to the government building, you get to know your comrades more.
You then arrive to the (text-colour:red)[TIHQ].
<!-- Sneaking into the building is a thing in of its own -->
Security is tight so you and you decide to sneak past the guards. At the entrance.
[[Next|Fail 3-Peaceful]]However, you are caught when you get inside and government security starts to shoot at you. You shoot back and you start to defend yourself. However, they are starting to send reinforcements.
It's a race against time now, because the building just amped up security.
You use your mercenary skills to neutralize all of the opposing guards with guns and melee combat, emerging victorious.
[[Next|Try 4]]As look outside the window and you see some shadowy figures outside the alley. It's a bit hard to see what's going on.
[[Next |fail-1-2]]You sneak inside the building but you have to be very careful about your next move.
The building amped up security ever since.
You use your mercenary skills to sneak pass the guards and successfully get inside an elevator to go upward.
[[Next|Try 4-Peaceful]]One of the (text-colour:red)[CircuitBreakers], a hacker, manages to hack into the building and make it so that security systems accept your clearance by making the systems forget you were laid off. You are now able to go to the top floor where the CEO of (text-colour:red)[Tatsuhiro Industries] resides.
You go to the top floor, and you start start to walk towards a vent. You get on the vent and start to crawl around different spaces.
<!-- Maybe add a sequence here where I could go to different rooms based on which spaces in the vent I go to.-->
You are now over the CEO's room.
[[Next|Climax-Peaceful]]The CEO is on a call with (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]]. The CEO is congratulating her on her perfomance in the debate.
Why is he congratulating someone who would be hostile towards their company in her administration and strongly advise against their interests to (text-colour:red)[DelSys]?
The CEO then starts to talk about the (text-colour:red)[UBI plan]. It turns out that they are crafting the (text-colour:red)[UBI plan] so that citizens spend money on multiple different things; this UBI plan is really just a giveaway from citizen's tax dollars to the corporations. They don't care that people depend on this money. They want to make it so that citizens have the minimum amount that they need to barely survive as unemployment rises. They also start talking strategy on how (text-colour:red)[Erica] will pretend to want to raise the UBI dividend that citizens get, but will in reality work behind the scenes to minimize these payments. They plan on cutting all welfare programs and replacing them all with this and they will frame this as a compromise that they needed to form with the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]] in order to get this passed. They've already picked out a rotating villain within the party to take the blame. They also start to talk about really corrupt government contracts.
You record the whole conversation. You bring it up to your teammates. They are disgusted and feel betrayed by (text-colour:red)[Erica]. What was supposed to be a blow against the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]] has instead turned into a crisis for devout (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists]].
<!-- Make it so that you have a choice to leak this to the press, while acknowledging that this would hurt Erica in the polls.-->
Your comrades debate whether this should be leaked to the press. They no longer believe in (text-colour:red)[Erica] and her ablity to lead the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists]], but they also acknowledge that (text-colour:red)[Kessler] is far worse.
[[Next|Resolution-Peaceful]]You and the rest of your comrades decide to leak this to the press. The people start finding out, and now (text-colour:red)[Kim] has lost ground in the polls. The (text-colour:red)[Kessler] campaign uses this to their advantage and wins the election.
Things get worse as time goes on. People's lives are actively worse because of the policies that (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]] have enacted.Channel 5 is on. It's talking about the impact that AGI is having on employment. There have been a large number of layoffs in the past few years because companies are starting to use AGI to replace employees in software engineering. They also talk about how the Californian military has been conscripting less abled-bodied people because they find it preferable to use robots supplied by (text-colour:red)[Boston Dynamics] instead. In fact, (text-colour:red)[DelSys] negotiated a trade deal with the (text-colour:red)[New England Union] which dramatically decreased the cost of imported robot military units from there.
[[<|Channel 3]] [[>|Channel 2]]Channel 7 is on. Images of people waiting outside the street with tents fill the screen. In fact, it's gotten so bad that that (text-colour:red)[DelSys] repurposed the entire 48-story (text-colour:red)[Transamerica Pyramid] into an unemployment office where where all floors process people's inquiries, both in-persona and online.
[[<|Channel 1]] [[>|Channel 3]]Channel 12 is on. There is coverage of the (text-colour:red)[Southern Holy Confederacy's] war in Iran. (text-colour:red)[Yahweh], their national AI system, has found it in their best interests to invade their country for geopolitical supremacy in the region to spread Christianity. Images of the war are displayed on the screen as you see how one of the AI systems massacred an entire school of children, mistaking it for a terrorist cell.
[[<|Channel 2]] [[>|PoliticalDebate]]You step away from the screen and go to the window.
[[Next|fail-1-1]]You decide to ignore the sounds and keep watching the TV.
[[Next|Debate11]]You've decided to interfere. You walk towards both of the Singularity Vanguard members.
[[Next|interfere1]]You walk away.
[[Next|Walk away 2]]You are knocked unconcious.
[[Next|Wake Up]]You switch to another channel. There is a national debate between the two leaders of the two political parties; (text-colour:red)[James Kessler], the leader of the (text-colour:red)[Accelerationists], and (text-colour:red)[Erica Kim] the leader of the (text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists]. They are having a fierce and intense debate about the future of humanity over the upcoming presidential election.
[[Next|PoliticalDebate1]]You dodge. The member loses their balance and falls hard on the ground.
[[Next|Punched]]You sweep the leg. The member falls hard on the ground.
[[Next|Punched]]You wake up with a start, your eyes scanning your surroundings frantically. Slowly, your eyes adjust to the dim lighting and you realize you are in a large, cavernous warehouse. The air is thick with the smell of metal and oil. You notice that you can't move your hands; they're tied behind your back, and you see that your legs are tied as well.
[[Next |Wake Up 2]]Moderator: "Thank you both for your passionate responses. Mr. Kessler, how do you propose regulating AI development?"
[[Next|Debate7]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "Your fear-mongering is holding us back, Ms. Kim. We need to embrace the singularity and let AI take the reins. The benefits of AI development far outweigh the risks."
[[Next|Debate16]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]]Moderator: "Let's focus on the other ways AI is affecting our economy; more specifically, human employment. Let's start with you, Mr. Kessler."
[[Next|Debate12]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "Ms. Kim is living in the past. We can't cling to outdated models of work and production. The future is AI and automation. It's time to embrace the changes that are coming and move forward."
[[Next|Debate10]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "We can't have it both ways, Ms. Kim. Either we embrace AI and automation and reap the benefits, or we fall behind other nations and risk becoming obsolete. We need to accelerate the development of AI and automation if we want to stay ahead."
[[Next|Debate18]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "Ms. Kim is advocating for an unsustainable UBI scheme that would bankrupt our economy and is encouraging a handout culture. We can't simply hand out money to everyone who is affected by automation. That would be unsustainable and would discourage people from working. We need to incentivize work and ensure that people are motivated to retrain for new jobs. We need to be realistic about the impact of automation and ensure that our UBI scheme is sustainable."
[[Next|Debate24]]You hear a sound come out of the window.
[[Take a look at it|Look out window]]
[[Ignore it|Ignore screams]]The year is 2073.
[[Next |Setting2]]One of these states is the (text-colour:red)[Californian Republic], a failing technocracy plagued by crime and corruption.
[[Next |Setting4]]The Unites States no longer exists. Polarization has Balkanized the country into smaller nation-states.
[[Next |Setting3]]All (text-colour:red)[California Republic] government decisions are enacted and enforced by the (text-colour:red)[Delphi System (DelSys)], an AI system spanning all of the republic which has been noted to surpass all humans in any metrics measuring intelligence.
[[Next |Setting5]]There are two political parties which govern this state and advocate on behalf of their constituents to (text-colour:red)[DelSys]: the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]] and the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists]]. Their role to (text-colour:red)[DelSys] is merely advisory.
[[Next |Setting6]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "Innovation without regulation is a recipe for disaster. We need to have safeguards in place to prevent the worst-case scenarios. The market can't be trusted to regulate itself, especially when it comes to AI development."
[[Next|Debate9]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "We don't need regulation, we need freedom. We should let (text-colour:red)[Delsys] decide what is safe and ethical. The best minds in the world should be able to innovate without bureaucratic red tape holding them back."
[[Next|Debate8]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]]The (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists]] believe in the promise of ASI, but want to slow down ASI development and enable greater government oversight over the development of ASI.
[[Next |Setting8]]The (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]] aim to hasten the coming of the singularity; the point in which AI systems surpass all of human intelligence in a feedback loop of recursive self-improvement, resulting in Artificial Superintelligence or ASI. They support governmental policies that accomplish this end.
[[Next |Setting7]]Both parties have paramilitary wing factions that regularly battle out in the streets of San Francisco. The (text-colour:red)[Singularity Vanguard] is the paramilitary wing of the (text-colour:red)[Accelerationists], and the (text-colour:red)[CircuitBreakers] are the paramilitary wing of the (text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists].
[[Next |Setting9]](text-colour:red)[DelSys'] intelligence is currently somewhere in between human-level intelligence and ASI: although it is able to make decisions that affect millions of people in the republic, it is still unable to recursively self-improve.
[[Next|SituationOfCharacter1]]You just came back from the (text-colour:red)[Tatsuhiro Industries Headquarters (TIHQ)] in the middle of downtown San Francisco to your apartment.
[[Next|SituationOfCharacter4]]Earlier today you've been told by upper management that you have been laid off because the company has decided to replace all human personnel in its (text-colour:red)[Extralegal Compliance Department] with automated systems, including robots.
[[Next|Try 1]]Moderator: "Good evening and welcome to the Californian Republic Presidential Debate. I'm your moderator, and tonight we have with us two candidates vying for the presidency. To my right is (text-colour:red)[James Kessler], leader of the Accelerationists, and to my left is (text-colour:red)[Erica Kim], leader of the Decelerationists.
[[Next|PoliticalDebateX]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "The only thing holding us back is your reckless ambition, Mr. Kessler. We need to prioritize safety and ethics when it comes to AI development. That's the responsible path forward."
[[Next|Debate17]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "Mr. Kessler's vision for the future is a bleak one. We cannot simply discard the needs of human workers in the pursuit of efficiency. We need to regulate the development of AI and automation to ensure that they serve humanity, not replace it."
[[Next|Debate15]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "The benefits of AI and automation are clear, but we need to consider the impact on human workers. We can't simply discard people like they're disposable. We need to regulate the development of AI and automation to ensure that they serve humanity, not replace it. We need to ensure that the development of these technologies is done responsibly and with the wellbeing of all in mind. It's time to decelerate AI and automation and find ways to work alongside them for the benefit of all."
[[Next|Debate6]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "Thank you for having me tonight. My proposal for a UBI scheme is based on the idea that we need to incentivize people to work. We can't simply hand out money to everyone who is affected by automation. That would lead to a culture of dependency and a lack of motivation to work. We need to provide minimal payments to those affected by automation so that they can continue to survive while they retrain for new jobs."
[[Next|Debate20]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "We need to move forward, but not at the expense of human dignity. AI and automation should not be developed solely for the purpose of replacing human workers. We need to find ways to work alongside AI and automation to create a better future for everyone."
[[Next|Moderator]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: "Thank you moderator. AI and automation are the future of the workforce. We need to embrace the changes that are coming and prepare for a world where human workers are no longer necessary. It's time to accelerate the development of AI and automation and embrace a new era of productivity."
[[Next|Debate13]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]]Moderator: "Ms. Kim, your response?"
[[Next|Debate14]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]]Moderator: "Ms. Kim, your response?"
[[Next|Debate21]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "Mr. Kessler's proposal is a slap in the face to those who will be affected by automation. We need to provide maximum UBI payments to those who are affected by automation so that they can survive and thrive. Automation is going to have a massive impact on our workforce, and we need to ensure that everyone has the resources they need to succeed."
[[Next|Debate23]]Moderator: "Thank you both for your passionate responses. It's clear that there are differing opinions on the best approach to implementing a UBI scheme in response to AI and automation. Let's move on to the next question."
[[Next|Hear Sound]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: "Mr. Kessler is living in a fantasy world where everyone can simply retrain for new jobs. And his proposal is based on a lack of empathy for those who will be affected by automation. Mr. Kessler is advocating for a UBI scheme that will leave millions of people in poverty. The reality is that automation is going to displace millions of workers, and we need to provide maximum UBI payments to ensure that they can survive and thrive. Automation is going to have a major impact on our economy, and we need to ensure that everyone is taken care of during this transition."
[[Next|Debate25]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: The Accelerationist party believes that AI is the key to maintaining our competitive edge in the global marketplace. We must continue to invest in AI development and research to stay ahead of other nations, especially those who may have hostile intentions towards us.
[[Next|Ignore2]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]]The sounds get really loud; it's yelling. It's drawing away your focus from the debate.
[[Look outside|fail-1-1]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: The Deccelerationist party believes that the development of AI should be approached with caution, especially in the context of foreign policy. We need to ensure that AI is not used for nefarious purposes or as a tool of oppression by other nations.
[[Next|Ignore3]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: Ms. Kim's proposal is short-sighted and will lead to us falling behind in the global race for technological superiority. We cannot afford to be complacent when it comes to AI development and research.
[[Next|Ignore4]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: Mr. Kessler's proposal is reckless and ignores the potential dangers of AI in the hands of hostile nations. We need to approach AI development with caution and ensure that our foreign policy takes into account the potential threats posed by AI.
[[Next|Ignore5]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[James Kessler]: Ms. Kim's proposal is an example of a defeatist attitude that will only lead to us falling behind in the global marketplace. We cannot afford to be complacent when it comes to AI development and research, and we must continue to invest in it to maintain our competitive edge.
[[Next|Ignore6]]
[[Tune out|Ignore10]](text-colour:red)[Erica Kim]: Mr. Kessler's proposal is an example of a reckless attitude that prioritizes short-term gains over long-term security. We need to approach AI development with caution and ensure that it is not used as a tool of oppression or aggression by other nations.

[[Tune out|Ignore10]]Moderator: Thank you both for your insights. It's clear that there are differing opinions on the role of AI in foreign policy. Let's move on to the next question.
[[Next|Ignore10]]You go downstairs to see what's going on.
[[Next|fail-1-3]]You're seeing some members of the (text-colour:red)[Singularity Vanguard] bullying a defenseless person. You've been spotted.
[[Step in |Interfere with BOS]]
[[Walk away |Walk away]]However, as you walk away you see other members of the Singularity Vanguard approaching behind you.

[[Next|interfere2]]Singularity Vanguard Member 1: "None of your business. Get lost."
[[Next|interfere3]]Singularity Vanguard Member 2: "If you want to leave them alone you'll have to fight us."
[[Next|interfere5]]You: "I don't think I will. Leave this person alone."
[[Next|interfere4]]One of the Singularity Vanguard members comes charging at you.

[[Next|Beat up]](text-colour:red)[Tatsuhiro Industries] is one of the largest AGI companies in the entire world; they are primarily focused on creating AI products, and have played an instrumental role in creating many of the modules that constitute (text-colour:red)[DelSys].
[[Next|SituationOfCharacter3]]Moderator: "Let's talk about UBI. As you both know, many Californians are interested in hearing your responses to the ongoing unemployment crisis. Both of you have put forward Universal Basic Income (UBI) plans aimed to mitigate the fallout of automation on human workers. Mr. Kessler, you have proposed a UBI scheme that provides minimal payments to those affected by automation. Could you explain your reasoning behind this proposal?"
[[Next|Debate19]]Moderator: Thank you for your responses. Our next question is about the impact of AI on foreign policy. How do you believe the Californian Republic should approach AI in regards to international relations and diplomacy?

[[Next|Try 2]]You: "What's going on?"
[[Next|Escape2]]
(text-color:red)[You are now dead.](text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers Member]: "We got into a scuffle with them earlier today and they had us surrounded."
[["Why were you scuffling with them?"|Escape4]](text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers Member]: "We've been captured by these vanguardists."
[["Why were you captured?"|Escape3]](text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers Member]: "They keep coming to our communities, purposely antagonizing our most vulnerable residents. It's time that we started to defend ourselves."
[["What's your name?"|Escape5]](text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers Member]: "My name is (text-color:red)[Samue]l. My friend to your right is (text-color:red)[Vladimir] but we call him (text-color:red)[Vlad]. My other friend behind you is named (text-color:red)[Sasha]."
[["Nice to meet you all, but what do we do now?"|Escape6]](text-color:red)[Vlad]: If we stay here, we are going to be killed. We need to do something, while they're distracted. The problem is that we are unarmed.
[[Next|Escape7]]You look around yourself and you notice a knife on a table in front to your right.
[[Slowly stand up]]
[[Stand up quickly]]You are now standing
[[Run to the table]]
[[Slowly walk to the table]]As you stand up quickly you make let out a huge pant.
[[Next|Guards notice]]
The Vanguardists gives you an angry look.
Vanguardist 1: "Ahhh, so you were trying to escape while we weren't watching? Give us a reason to not kill you right now."
[[Bump your head to the Vanguardist]]
[[Try to negotiate with the guards]]The Vanguardist has been knocked down and is fazed. The other Vanguardists see this and shoot you.
[[Next|Dead]]You run to the table. Your feet are tied up, so you fall down loudly.
[[Next|Guards notice]]You are not at front of the table. Your hands are tied behind your back.
[[Turn around slowly]]
[[Turn around quickly]]The guards see what you are doing and come running towards you.
Vanguardist 1: "What do you think you're doing?"
[[Sell out the prisoners]]
[[Bump your head to the Vanguardist]]You turn around slowly, placing your hands on the table
[[Grab the knife]]As you turn around quickly, your hands bump along the steel table, letting out a huge ring.

[[Cut the rope with the knife on your hands slowly]]
[[Cut the rope with the knife on your hands quickly]]As you start cutting the rope, the two guards turn around and face you and the rest of your prisonmates.
[[Next|Guards notice]]You cut the rope with your hands slowly. Your hands are free, but the guards are still watching over you.
[[Wait and do nothing]]
[[Slide the knife on the floor to Samuel]]As you start cutting the rope, your quick movements alert the two guards turn that something is going on.
[[Next|Guards notice 2]]The guards see what you are doing and approach you.
Vanguardist 1: "What do you think you're doing?"
[[Sell out the prisoners]]
[[Bump your head to the Vanguardist]]As you wait and do nothing, one of the guards breaks eye contact and talks to the other.
[[Slide the knife on the floor to Samuel|Slide the knife Good]]You: "I was a corporate mercenary for (text-color:red)[Tatsuhiro]. I have experience in espionage and neutralizing hostile personell. I was recently laid off, so I'm off the hook for whatever I do next. I have skills which we all know you need if you want to succeed."
[[Next|Guard response]]A third guard comes from the background and starts walking towards the two other guards. They start whispering amongst each other, enough for you to not hear what they're saying. They turn their backs, walk away from the prisoners, and keep whispering among themselves.
[[Next|Turn to circuitbreaker]]The guards see that you slid the knife.
[[Next|Guards notice 2]]You turn to the (text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers] member on your left.
[[Next|Escape1]]Samuel receives the knife as the guards don't notice. Samuel starts to cut the rope with his hands. Samuel then cute the rope on his feet as well, and starts running towards the guards.
[[Next|Guard1 stabbed]]Before the guards can react, Samuel stabs the first guard in the neck. The guard drops to his knees.
[[Run towards the second guard]]You run towards the second guard and restrain him. Samuel stabs the second guard. A pool of blood gathers around both of the guards.
Samuel then walks towards the rest of the prisoners and starts to cut their ropes.
Everyone runs towards the door to escape.
[[Next |Fail 2]]The Vanguardists start looking at each other and whispering among each other. After a few seconds, they stop whisepring and look at you.
[[Next|Guard response 2]]Vanguardist 2: "Fine we'll accept your offer."
[[Next|Guard response 3]]Vanguardist 1: "As for the rest of you, we have no real use for you. And you have also demosntrated no loyalty."
The guards then proceed to shoot all of the prisoners.
[[Next|Guard response 4]]Vanguardist 2: "Well, looks like that situation took care of itself. Now, you're with us. If you want to prove to us that you are loyal to our cause, you will have to do exactly as we say."
[["Understood"|Guard response 5]]Vanguardist 1: "We have intel that the (text-color:red)[[CircuitBreakers] are planning a terrorist attack in a couple of days. The thing is, we don't know if they will be targetting the (text-color:red)[Tatsuhiro Industries Headquarters] or one of the buildings that we, the (text-color:red)[Singularity Vanguard], own. It's also possible that they'd be targetting a government building. We need you to go to the (text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers'] headquarters to spy and see where they are planning this."
[[Next|Go to CircuitBreaker HQ]]You are dirven to the (text-color:red)[CircuitBreaker's] HQ. Some of the Vanguardists accompany you.
Security is tight so you and you decide to sneak past the guards. At the entrance.
[[Next|Fail 3- CBHQ]]The Vanguardists decide to leak this to the press. The people start finding out, and now (text-colour:red)[James] has lost ground in the polls. The (text-colour:red)[Kim] campaign uses this to their advantage and wins the election.
(text-color:red)[Erica's] plans are enacted, but the Accelerationists effectively block the most transformative changes. People's lives are the same from the plans that the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Deccelerationists]] have and haven't enacted. You sneak inside the building but you have to be very careful about your next move.
The building amped up security ever since.
You use your mercenary skills to sneak pass the guards and successfully get inside an elevator to go upward.
[[Next|Try 4 - CBHQ]]One of the (text-colour:red)[Vanguardists], a hacker, manages to hack into the building and make it so that security systems now signal that everything is okay. You are now able to go to the top floor where the leadership of the (text-colour:red)[CircuitBreakers] gather.
You go to the top floor, and you start start to walk towards a vent. You get on the vent and start to crawl around different spaces.
<!-- Maybe add a sequence here where I could go to different rooms based on which spaces in the vent I go to.-->
You are now over the (text-color:red)[CircuitBreaker's] leaders room.
[[Next|Climax-CBHQ]](text-color:red)[James Kessler] is in the room, and he's talking to a higher up of the (text-color:red)[CircuitBreakers].
(text-color:red)[James Kessler]: "From my understanding, (text-color:red)[Erica] cannot make it to the meeting because she is in a call right now. Anyways, we need you all to start putting more pressure on us. So, have you talked to the individuals who are planning to do the terorrist attack?"
(text-color:red)[Vanguard Leader 1]: "Yes, we've been keeping tabs on them in case they try to do anything suspicious. We don't need a big event like this--"
(text-color:red)[James Kessler]: "You know, it really wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if the attack happened. It might actually be a good thing. There's been some new calculations that have been run by the system, and the event might actually work out in our favor. So for now, we say that let's keep things going the way that they are. And if they are about to do something stupid, let them."
Vanguard Leader 2: "There's been new calculations run through the system? Oh, I guess it shouldn't be too bad then."
You record the whole conversation. You bring it up to the Vanguardists. They are disgusted and feel betrayed by (text-colour:red)[Kessler]. Their own leader has been trying to make the terrorist attack that they've been trying to foil happen behind the scenes.
The Vanguardists debate whether this should be leaked to the press. They no longer believe in (text-colour:red)[James] and his ablity to lead the (text-colour:red)[(text-colour:red)[Accelerationists]], but they also acknowledge that (text-colour:red)[Erica] is far worse.
